If we neglect the heart and soul of a patient we miss the very thing that makes us human.

At Calhoun Women’s Center, we believe strongly that all patients should be treated as a whole human being. We believe that the biological aspects of care are just as important as the psychological, the spiritual, and the social, and the cultural aspects.

Do you need therapy?

Sometimes this can be a very hard question to answer. When we look at our patients it’s not always obvious whether a patient will need therapy or not. Often times people mistakenly think that therapy is only for extreme people and they think that it’s something that goes on forever, but the truth is that therapy is for many things that are very common (anxiety, depression, grief, hard life transitions, and sometimes things like trauma) and most frequently patients only need therapy for a limited timeframe. Some things that may que you in that you may benefit from therapy would include:

-Feeling overwhelmed most days

-Anxiety that is affecting your sleep or your relationships.

-Feeling consistently disconnected from your child or partner

-Struggles related to loss (miscarriage, birth trauma, losing someone close to you)

-Consistent feelings of burn out or emotional exhaustion.
